Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup water, warmed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
- For the Glaze:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt
Add warmed milk, water, eggs, softened butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients
Mix until a dough forms
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size
Punch down the dough and roll it out to 1/2-inch thickness
Use a donut cutter to cut out donut shapes
Place the donuts on a baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350F 175C
Carefully fry the donuts in batches until they are golden brown on both sides, about 1-2 minutes per side
Remove donuts using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels
For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth
Dip each donut into the glaze and let excess drip off
Place glazed donuts on a wire rack to set
